During the past decade over 60,000 people in Mexico have died due to drug lords fighting with one another as well as with the basic idea of security within the nation. They have bribed their way to power in Mexico and in the process ordinary citizens are caught in the cross fire. There is increasing evidence that thousands of people in Mexico have lost faith in their police and armed forces. Vigilantes in southern states have taken over towns, arrested the police and raided homes in search of drugs. They are tired of police who work for drug lords rather than citizens of the community.
As one leader noted, “we have besieged the municipality because criminals operate with impunity in broad daylight in view of municipal authorities.” How about vigilantes heading for America and demanding an end to drug lords who operate with similar municipalities?
