Tony Hayward, chief executive of British Petroleum had a hard week testifying before the American Congress concerning the entire episode of oil spilling through the waters of the Gulf of Mexico so it was only fair this poor man get break from breaking hearts of Americans. He did what any normal world plutocrat would do–get on your damn boat and sail away to a yacht race and return to being in the company of normal people who understand God made rules for the wealthy and he made rules for the rest of humanity. Poor Tony said he just desired a “rare moment of private time” but he also made clear to the entire world, “no matter where he is, he is always in touch with what is happening at BP.” Tony, that is the problem, YOU are still in charge of what is happening at BP!
President Obama’s advisor, Rahm Emanuel could not resist commenting, “Well, to quote Tony Hayward, he’s got his life back.” The question is does giving him his life back bode well for the United States and BP? Oh, Senator Shelby, from the Gulf state of Alabama, wanted Tony to know, “People here are not on their yachts today.”
