Torturous World Of American Torture

The people of Great Britain have witnessed their former prime minister, Tony Blair, defend his policies in Iraq and claim anyone challenging the validity of what he said was in league with those who spout conspiracy theories. For years, the British government has denied complicity with Americans in the torture of detained people. A court decision dealing with the arrest and imprisonment of British resident Binyam Mohamed who was arrested in Pakistan, asserts he not only was tortured in Pakistan, but the brutality continued when he got to Morocco. It is clear British agents knew about American torture methods and did nothing to prevent them being used against a British citizen.

The good news is that a spokesperson for Prime Minister Gordon Brown said, “we stand firmly against torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.” Of course, the statement went on to assert, “we don’t condone, collude or solicit it.” Sorry, but the court document clearly reveals British agents DID know about torture being applied to one of their citizens.

The sad news is President Obama still refuses to allow an open inquiry into torture by Americans. We Americans need to know the truth because only then can we be free to practice democracy in this country.
