Turkish PM Urges Mubarak Exit

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Erdogan urged President Hosni Mubarak to heed the call of his own people and begin the process of leaving office. His request sent an Ambassador to Turkey where he told Foreign Minister Dovutogu to mind his own business. The US right wing media and Ms. Ignorance Palin are prone to use expressions such as “Muslims” as though a single entity existed. There is no such thing as “the Muslim world” anymore than there is something called, “the Western world.” Although tensions exist between secular and religious groups within Turkey, their nation has endeavored to serve as an honest broker in the region in order to foster peace. Israel blunders in the Gaza Strip infuriated their close alliance with Turkey and made even more difficult using its good offices to work for compromise. Ironically, the Turkish government yesterday cracked down on Hizbullah groups in its nation and arrested a few dozen of its leaders.

Unfortunately, there is no sensible intelligent government in Israel which would work with Turkey and secure a compromise with Palestinians. Mubarak does not yet grasp the need to leave. Nor does Israel Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman understand the need to shut his mouth and cease insulting Muslims within his own nation.
