UK Government Backs Down On Maternity Leave

The British Labor Party was anxious to fulfill a campaign promise that would result in extending a promised extension of maternity pay leave from nine months to a year due to fiscal problems. However, there was hope that fathers could be provided access to being given six months paternity leave. Currently, they can only request two weeks paternity leave. The UK is enduring the after effects of the world economic collapse which has devastated much needed social benefits for those who are in the middle and lower classes.

A basic problem is convincing working and middle class people that no money is available for their needs while setting aside billions, if not trillions. for bankers and business people. One of the ironies of the current economic situation is the ability to funnel huge amounts into the coffers of stockbrokers or financial tycoons, but not be able to identify money for those who have scant financial resources.
