I was once blessed with the opportunity to work with nuns at a college and that experience has given me great respect for those women who work to foster the Catholic faith. American nuns are hard working, dedicated and believe devoutedly in the Catholic religion. Some disagree with current doctrinal views of the Catholic Church but there have always been conflict in the Catholic church regarding what is the truth. Pope Bendict XVI shocked the Leadership Conference of Women Religious by charging they were advocating ideas that contradicted true faith.
The LCWR has been charged with ”occasional public statements” that are not in accord with Vatican policy. Surely, this is an opportunity for dialogue and exploring new directions for the church. I am not a Catholic but have great respect for American nuns. They are dedicated women and their voices should not only be heard, but given attention.
