US Ambassador to Turkey, James Jeffrey, urged that current rapprochement between Armenia and Turkey should continue even while admitting an Armenian “genocide” bill would be passed by the American Congress. He emphasized the best way to deal with American politicians is to continue working for peace with Armenia and that, in the long run, this will assist in the process of finally putting to rest the issue of what happened to Armenians in Turkey during World War I. Turkish politicians told the ambassador passage of the bill would impede their work with Armenia. Last year, President Obama told the Turkish government to pursue normalization with Armenia.
The Turkish government for years becomes upset when the United States Congress passes a resolution concerning the Armenian genocide. When will Turkey simply ask a UN commission be formed to study events about the Armenian genocide and issue a report so for once and all this anger is put to rest as to who did what to whom?
