Veterans In School Contemplate Suicide

A shocking new study reveals that college students who had been in the military are  six times more likely to have attempted suicide than college students who have never served in the armed forces. A survey of 525 students, 98 of whom had been deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, with an average age of 26, showed that 46% contemplated suicide, 20% had planned a suicide and 7.7% had tried to kill themselves. In contrast, 6% of college students reported considering suicide and 1.3% had actually tried.

These are horrible statistics which added to the higher percent suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder indicates MORE money and resources are needed for the VA.  I wonder if Tea Party nut cases will support cutting funds for the VA in the name of fiscal responsibility?
