The Israel air force launched attacks on convoys that may have been carrying anti-aircraft missiles from a site in Syria to Hezbollah forces in Lebanon. There is no question the attack is in violation of international law and President Bashar al-Assad is making threats of retaliation. Israel has previously warned that it would take military action to prevent dispatch of chemical or other such threatening weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon. As an Israel spokesperson commented: “we will take action to prevent chemical weapons from being transferred to Islamic terrorist organizations.”
As Assad wavers, as Assad loses control of his nation, Israel becomes increasingly concerned about weapons in Syria which might land in the hands of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
