West Bank Settlers Defy Government

After fifty years of conflict and inability on the part of Israel governments to have meaningful dialogue with Palestinians, there is presently a desire among most leaders of the Palestine government for peace. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu finally ordered a freeze on West Bank settlement construction in order to have an opportunity to enage in dialogue with Palestinian leaders. So, what do West Bank settlers respond to the possibility of peace — defy the government!

At a meeting in the Ofra settlement that was attended by members of the Knesset, the angry group issued words of defiance. They were told to “begin building. Add a shed and make it white so the satellites can pick it up.” One man said: “we will disobey the order. we have a moral right to do so.”

The only moral right for Jews is to work for peace with their Palestinian brothers and sisters.
