The Republican smear artists are back at work trying to replicate their success in 2000 and 2004. The latest object of the campaign of distortion and lies is Michelle Obama. Reports are circulating across the Internet and MySpace about the remarks made by the senator’s wife in which she supposedly said she was not proud of America until it got around to nominating her husband. We print the actual words spoken by Michelle Obama and leave it to readers if her remarks are accurately being presented.
“What we have learned over this year is that hope of making a comeback. It is making a comeback and let me tell you something. For the first time in my adult life I’m proud of my country, and not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I’ve seen people who are hungry to be unified around some common issues and it’s made me proud.
And I feel privileged to be part of even witnessing this traveling around states all over this country and being reminded that there is more that unites us than divides us, that the struggles of a farmer in Iowa are no different than what’s happening on the south side of Chicago, that people are feeling the same pain and w anting the same things for their families.”
This is what this courageous woman said, not what you have seen or heard on the media. Don’t allow Republicans to swift boat another candidate with their lies.
