Middle East expert Robert Fisk, writing in the Independent, suggests some strange things are taking place in Egypt. According to Fisk, rumors are circulating in Egypt that Mohamed Morsi did NOT win the recent presidential election, but his opponent, Ahmed Shafiq received 50.7% of the vote. Rumors suggest the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (Scaf) made a deal with Morsi. He would reign in the Muslim Brotherhood, accept their supremacy and the reward was becoming president of Egypt.
Rumors suggest Morsi might appoint as Prime Minister the respected former UN official, Mohamed el-Baradei. In reality, Morsi represents about 25% of the people of Egypt. If he does not reach out to secular forces, the only end result will be continued control by the armed forces.
