When Is Rape Rape?

Dominique Strauss Kahn is an important man.  He is a noted economist who has headed the IMF and many thought he might one day become president of France. However, he just has one small, tiny little quirk, the man likes women. OK, he is a Frenchman and liking women is part of the national culture so why should anyone be surprised if he tried to make it with a hotel maid in New York City? After than case collapsed, he returned to France only to discover even French women have complaints concerning his behavior.

Tristane Banon, a reporter tried to interview the great man several years ago only to encounter a man who she termed behaved as a “rutting chimpanzee.” French authorities questioned the great man and noted “he conceded he made advances to her without being precise about the nature of the advances.”

My question is: if his advances were human rather than those of a chimpanzee, is that illegal?
