Women Crucified In Paraguay

There are people who are religious and there are people who are religious for all the wrong reasons. Two women in Paraguay had themselves be crucified to crosses and carried around the capital city as part of a protest against the government. The two women were members of homeless organizations and wanted to call attention to their demands for the government to give them $1.5 million in order to purchase land to build homes for the homeless. Several men heaved the crosses on their shoulders and bore the women through the streets of Asuncion where they were met by other protestors.

Pablino Caceres who heads the government Social Action agency, said: “In previous governments the leaders of the homeless groups controlled the money, but not now.” The question is whether the fight was over who controlled the money or whether housing would be built.
