The ever changing role of women in the armed forces has led to the last issue related to equal treatment. Should women be allowed to participate in front line combat? The United States Army has decided to allow women to become involved in air force roles in which they would be linked to what is taking place on the ground. Women already serve as aviators in air force crews within conventional units. They will shortly be allowed to become pilots and part of air crews for Special Operations Aviation units. In other words, they will be engaged in combat with enemy forces firing.
The move is expected to aid a growing pilot shortage and expand the size of those applying to pilot planes. Yesterday, homosexuals could not serve in the armed forces, today women are able to serve 100% as members of the armed forces. So, what is still left to do?
