Females in Saudi Arabia were just informed by King Abdullah they would be granted the right to vote and run for public office in upcoming municipal elections. A Saudi woman who insists she needs access to a car for work purposes was sentenced by clerics to be lashed 10 times for the high crime of: DRIVING A CAR! Saudi Arabia is the only nation in the world which makes illegal for women to vote or drive cars.
Female activist Zein el-Abydeen expressed the view of many women by asking: “how come women get flogged for driving while the maximum penalty for a traffic violation is a fine, not lashes” No further comment.
